Clear Creek Rod and Gun ATV ride

Jo and I met up with Jeff and Chris Feamster and made the trip up Anjean to the CCR&G picnic and atv ride. Since I have never ridden Cold Knob from the Anjean side of the mountain I thought it would be an interesting chance of scenery. Little did I realize that Anjean was little more than 10 miles from the trails I am used to and after Jeff got us back to the side of the mountain I recognized we had a brisk 55 mile ride on familiar trails.
We saw more grouse in one day than I have seen in the last 10 years. We also spooked up a couple bucks in velvet.
The trails were dust free as we had a steady rain most of the morning. It quit just as we left the registration table and didnt start again till we were on our way home.
We look forward to many more trips to the other side of the mountain but I think we will continue to do so from the Trout side. I believe we can park at Trout and ride to Anjean much quicker than trailering there.
Back at the trailhead we enjoyed a great meal and bluegrass music. We would have stayed longer but a warm shower and my couch seemed just too inviting to pass up :)
Thanks again to Jeff and Chris for riding with us. Between Jeff and I we were able to find our way around Cold Knob without getting lost.

I made a quick video from todays ride
